Watchers

This fox was supposed to be one for my personal collection, but unfortunately I have not bonded with her as much as I thought I would and I have found another fox pelt that I absolutely must buy. Thus, my adolescent cross fox is tentatively up for sale.

This fox has an internal jointing system much like this example here
[link]
Except this fox does not have a foam form, only soft polyfill to allow for a nice cuddly fox. Unlike wire the joints only move at the proper points and will never break, however sometimes the joints come apart if banged or pushed too far. This is a simple fix, merely grasp both ends and push them together again (you will notice they are ball and socket joints). This internal system makes it so this fox has more lifelike anatomy, but please note that this fox does NOT have the same system as my other fox Ilu (and thus cannot do as many poses). This fox can sort of stand up, it takes a lot of finnicking and the head must rest on the ground as it is too heavy to be held up. However many laying down poses can be held, and it's pretty cute to make her wave or something as it will look natural.

When dried the fur was very greasy feeling so I did a light shampoo on the fur. The fur is much better now but still a bit greasy.  Should the purchaser wish it, it was suggested to me to buy pert plus and put a small amount of water on the pelt and gently wash. I would wash it again for you but the dog shampoo was borrowed and I feel bad asking for more.

PRICE REDUCED TO $425 plus whatever shipping is to you. Originally I was only going to sell this girl if I could afford to buy a specific fox pelt I wanted. But after having her for a while I'm still not bonding with her as much as I thought I would, and I need money to mount up another fox of mine. So I have reduced her price, but this is as low as I will go. This will be enough to buy all the supplies I need for a fox I'm working on and hopefully buy another fox pelt.

Also, holy crap. After uploading my adolescent cross fox pictures I got like, 30 notifications in 30 seconds. That was pretty awesome lol

She's all mounted up! Just waiting for her to be super dry so I can wash her off, her fur feels really weird and almost greasy, so your shampoo suggestion was great.

Man, mounting that head was the hardest thing ever. Pretty much ended up sculpting the entire dang form, which in reality was good practice but a bit of a pain. I think I put the eyes a bit too close together, and in hindsight I wish I got the 16mm instead of the 14 but live and learn! I'm hoping that they'll look better after I paint them a little bit. I've gotten better at noses at least, I used her real nose and it came out pretty well. I tested her out today and she's able to stand, but not really able to lift her head up since I used soooo much clay, but that's ok. I thought she wouldn't be able to stand at all so I'm happy that she can.

Thanks for a wonderful pelt, I'm now in love with dorsal cuts haha. Her name is Nightwish :) I can't wait for her to be cleaned up and painted! I'll be posting up pics this weekend, finals are finally almost over so I'll have lots of time to take pictures of her.

Nightwish! I love that!

Yesh, make super dry and then quick bath. Don't know why but all of the cross fox babies (even the one I tanned myself) were greasy. Must have had something to do with the weather where they were living (they were littermates). But after a shampooing in Pert they fluff right up no problems.

Once the clay dries I think you'll find she holds her head up, that's how it worked for me.

Thanks! I was really stuck between five or so names I liked, even after I looked at her pelt. But as soon as I started mounting her up I knew exactly what her name had to be!

It's so hard being patient. I just want her to be soft and fluffy noooow lol. Huh, that's really strange. I'm excited to have a fluffy foxy, she looks a little depressing right now...my roommate was commenting on how I'm a serial killer when she walked in on the wet pelt. And now she says she looks like roadkill -_-'

That would be nice if it did, but I really used a LOT of clay and I used my skeleton method that's meant for smaller animals rather than the one I used for my other fox mount. If the head form was just foam it may have been able to hold her up, but I don't think it's strong enough to hold up that much clay. It's fine though, I honestly didn't think she would be too posable, I just wanted her anatomy to be sort of decent and I really enjoy bending my taxidermy joints around even if they have no other purpose lol.

Now that she's almost finished I have to start searching for things for my other fox mount. I bought an unmountable moonglow (well apparently he's not a "true" moonglow but he looks closer to that than anything else and that's what he was sold to me as so it's close enough haha) pelt and I want to try and do a franken-fox thing to see if I can make him mountable. So far no luck finding any mountable feet or head. Gah, I'm probably going to have to buy a whole, perfectly good fox and take it apart which is sort of unfortunate, but he's so beautiful and was one of my dream foxes so I'll do anything to mount him. I'm so happy I decided to get a bunch of taxidermy stuff for my birthday, definitely tons of fun having two fox projects. Thanks again for holding Nightwish for me, it definitely was a birthday wish come true :D

You are like a flower
That bloomed in a dark shadow
Even though you're in a place you didn't wish to be,
You can't move because of your roots

So please don't cry
Please smile, single flower
